Sources: Ten Hag sets sights on Man United January signings

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has already set his sights on a number of potential January signings, sources have told Football Insider.

The Dutchman has one eye on the mid-season window following a poor start to the 2023-24 campaign.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 October) that Man United are not yet considering sacking Ten Hag – and club chiefs are giving him their full backing.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that there is “no panic” within top-ranking officials despite a stuttering start this term.

Pressure is ramping up on Ten Hag after four losses in the first seven Premier League games of the season – as well as a loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage.

That is despite the Old Trafford club reportedly spending more than £179million on incomings in the summer window.

Ten Hag’s side added Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, Sofyan Amrabat and Altay Bayindir to the squad.

But those additions are yet to make a tangible impact on results at Man United, who sit 10th in the Premier League with nine points.

Last season’s top scorer, Marcus Rashford, has managed just one strike in the new campaign – while Hojlund has scored once, in the Champions League loss at Bayern Munich.

Andre Onana, who cost a reported fee of £47.2million in the summer window, has also been criticised for a series of high-profile mistakes.

Mason Mount signed from Chelsea in a high-profile early-window deal but injury has limited his impact in Ten Hag’s first-team this season.

Man United are next in action against Galatasaray on Tuesday (3 October) before facing Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday (7 October).
