Sources: Saudi club 'hopeful' of luring Kevin De Bruyne from Man City next year

Saudi Arabian officials have sounded out Man City star Kevin De Bruyne about a potential move to the Middle East in 2024, sources have told Football Insider.

The 31-year-old is believed to be a serious target for Saudi Pro League officials as they attempt to grow the profile of their fledgeling football operation worldwide.

Saudi Arabia are set to step up their pursuit of De Bruyne in 2024.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that league officials are hoping to lure him to the Middle East next summer and are hopeful of persuading him to make the move.

This bombshell comes with De Bruyne currently ruled out with a serious hamstring injury – with the Belgium international not expected to return until the new year.

Football Insider revealed last week (20 October) that there is “no urgency” at Man City to sit down and discuss a contract renewal with the playmaker.

The five-time Premier League winner is currently out of contract in June 2025.

De Bruyne made 49 total appearances last term, notching 10 goals and 31 assists in a stellar season as City won a historic treble.

The Belgium international currently earns a reported wage of £400,000-a-week but could rake in an even more lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia.

Man City have already allowed Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte to leave for Al-Ahli and Al Nassr respectively.

The Saudi Pro League have also moved to bring Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante to the Middle East in the past year.

In other news, Man City could accept £80million bid for star man.
