Rangers backed to sign two Belgian stars in January after deal agreed

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been tipped to raid the Belgian top flight for new additions in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie said that Clement has the gravitas to attract high quality players and insisted he will look the Belgian market for additions.

Clement was appointed as successor to Michael Beale, who made nine new signings in the summer window, with many of them struggling to make an impact.

The 49-year-old joined the Gers having won league titles in Belgium with both Genk and Club Brugge.

McAvennie has suggested Clement could look to his former league in an effort to raid players to join him at Ibrox after he agreed a long-term deal to take over.

He has got a track record over in Belgium, he is well-known as a player and a manager,” he told Football Insider.

He plays a decent style of football. There are a lot of good players in Belgium if that is his market.

To get a couple of Belgian players in there would not be too bad for Rangers. I am sure Clement could attract one or two players from over there. Two in January are most likely.”

During his brief spell at Rangers, Michael Beale brought in a total of 11 new players.

Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell joined in the January window with Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Leon Balogun, Jose Cifuentes, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima and Danilo joining in the most recent window.
