Sources: Big update on Salah quitting Liverpool next year

Mohamed Salah is increasingly likely to quit Liverpool next year with Saudi Pro League officials working behind the scenes to sign both him and fellow superstar Kevin De Bruyne, sources have told Football Insider.

League chiefs are eyeing their next statement of intent having already lured the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema to the Middle East.

And a well-placed source has now told Football Insider that Salah’s move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia is “expected to go through” next year.

Football Insider also revealed on Thursday (26 October) that De Bruyne is being sounded out about a potential lucrative switch.

But Salah has long been a target for Saudi chiefs – with Hafez Al-Medlej stating back in June that the winger is one of the nation’s top targets.

Al-Ittihad were the club to come forward with a proposal to sign him in the most recent summer window.

Sources told Football Insider last month (7 September) that a bid of around £225million was being worked on in the final throes of the transfer window.

But Liverpool stood firm to keep their talisman around and have been rewarded with more good form so far this season.

The club legend, who is under contract until June 2025, has notched eight goals and four assists in 11 appearances across all competitions this season.

He earns a reported wage of £350,000-a-week on Merseyside – making him Liverpool’s best-paid player.

The Reds were raided by Saudi clubs in the most recent summer window, with midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho joining Al Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad respectively.
