£100m-valued teenager and Bundesliga duo sign, £130m duo quit: How Man United could line up in 2024-25

Football Insider takes a look at how Man United could line up in 2024-25 with potential big-name exits and arrivals.

After a modest start to the current campaign, the Red Devils will be looking to improve their squad in the upcoming transfer windows, while a number of stars could also be offloaded at Old Trafford.

While a change of ownership looks less likely for next season, there are bound to be a number of major changes to Erik ten Hag’s squad for the 2024-25 season, especially in defence.

Harry Maguire looked set to leave Manchester this summer amid interest from West Ham, but the 30-year-old centre-back eventually stayed put.

However, with Maguire still struggling for game time this season, a permanent exit for the £80million signing now seems inevitable.

Another star that looks set to leave is Anthony Martial, who is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer.

After making a bright start at the club following his £50million move from Monaco in 2016, Martial has failed to nail down a starting position due to recurring injuries.

Donny van de Beek is also likely to leave after failing to make his way into Ten Hag’s plans, while Jonny Evans is only under contract until next summer.

In terms of arrivals, it is clear that Ten Hag will need more defensive depth and attacking firepower for next season.

Despite the £72million signing of Rasmus Hojlund this summer, Martial’s exit would leave United with only the Danish international as an out-and-out striker.

The emergence of Evan Ferguson at Brighton has caught the eye of United fans, and the 18-year-old would be an ideal fit for Ten Hag’s system.

While the Seagulls will put a hefty price tag on his head – it is currently around the £100million mark, sources say – expect the Red Devils to get the chequebook out to try and sign the Irish wonderkid next summer.

As for the defence, Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba are on United’s radar.

At 22, Frimpong is one of the brightest talents in Europe and would represent a major upgrade over both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.

Tapsoba, 24, is another bright talent coming through at Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso and would be a suitable candidate to be the long-term partner of Lisandro Martinez at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will also likely make their loan deal for Sofyan Amrabat permanent after inserting a buy clause into the deal with Fiorentina.

Here’s how the Red Devils could line up next season:

Andre Onana; Jeremie Frimpong, Edmond Tapsoba, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes; Antony, Evan Ferguson, Marcus Rashford.
