Revealed: Liverpool coaches wowed by 'real deal' who's the best home-grown talent since Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool coaches have been hugely impressed by Jarell Quansah and view him as the club’s best home-grown talent since Trent Alexander Arnold, sources have told Football Insider.

The defender, 20, has made a big impression on the Reds coaching staff since pre-season with Jurgen Klopp and his staff thrilled by how the youngster is responding to the first team opportunities that have come his way.

Quansah shone again on Thursday night (5 October) in Liverpool’s 2-0 Europa League win over Union Saint-Gilloise after being selected to pair Ibrahima Konate in central defence.

It was the fifth senior appearance of the rising star’s Liverpool career, three of which have been starts, and all of them this season.

Anfield staff are convinced the youngster is the “real deal” and has the potential to be a first-team star of the future.

Quansah is seen as the best home-grown star since Alexander-Arnold with other outstanding young players at the club, Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott, hailing from Spain and Fulham respectively.

The centre-back has clocked up a total of 295 minutes of action this season and benefitted from the club’s failure to secure the senior defender signing they tried to get in the summer.

Quansah spent the second half of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers and made 16 League One appearances in a season that saw the side finish 17th in the English third division.

Klopp has been full of praise for the youngster and, speaking after the Europa League victory on Thursday, said he had no doubts Quansah was ready to be included in the starting lineup.

The manager added that the centre-back will get more minutes for the first team but will also be used by the under-21s side as well in order to continue his development.
