Kieran Maguire reveals what 'senior sources close to Sheikh Jassim' have said about collapsed Man United takeover

Sheikh Jassim has been left frustrated towards the Glazers after wasting huge sums of money on his Man United takeover bid.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider what ‘senior sources’ have been saying about the collapsed takeover deal.

As widely reported last Saturday (14 October), Sheikh Jassim and his Qatar party have withdrawn entirely from the Man United bidding process.

Qatar’s final bid was worth double United’s market valuation but was still rejected by the Glazers as they preferred the offer of minority investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The British billionaire is now the favourite to strike a deal with the Glazers with an initial investment worth £1.4billion for 25 percent of the club.

Maguire was not surprised that the Qatar party completely withdrew rather than restructure their bid as they felt the Glazers were trying to take advantage of them.

“I’m not surprised that Qatar completely withdrew,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Senior sources close to the Sheikh Jassim bid have indicated to me that there was increased frustration towards the conduct of the Glazers.

On more than one occasion, they had agreed to increase the bid.

They had agreed to some concessions as far as the demands of the Glazers were concerned.

Yet every time that they felt that they were close to shaking hands on a deal, the terms were changed.

In the end, they didn’t want to be taken advantage of.

I think there was a huge sense of frustration because the Jassim team had spent huge sums of money employing bankers, a legal team and accountants to come up with an appropriate valuation.

All of that money is now being wasted.

So I think there’s no good blood between Jassim and the Glazers.
