McAvennie slams Rangers board after journalist's new manager update - 'they are all arguing'

Rangers need a new manager in as soon as possible because the current squad aren’t listening to Steven Davis.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie can’t tell who is “pulling the strings” at Ibrox and doesn’t see the direction the club are moving in.

The Gers are still searching for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale earlier this month, with player Steven Davis taking interim charge of the club, despite no relevant experience.

According to journalist Andy Devlin (11 October), there is a “split” between the Rangers board over who the next manager should be.

The club have reportedly been speaking to Kevin Muscat and Phillippe Clement about their vacant position but it is believed that members of the board cannot agree on their preferred candidate.

McAvennie urged someone in the club to put an end to the search.

I just think somebody at the club should be making a decision,” he told Football Insider.

Who is pulling the strings here? They are all arguing about it, and the plan keeps changing. That doesn’t bode well. I think the quicker they get someone in to settle that ship, the quicker they do that the better.

At the moment the boys are not going to listen to Steven Davis. They need somebody in so that the players know who their manager is and get a consistent game plan in place.

They have got to do it quickly but they have got to get this one right.
