Leeds told to reject Summerville offer after source's reveal - 'just wait...', says Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Leeds United should not sell Crysencio Summerville for any price in the January transfer window.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it “wouldn’t make sense” to weaken Daniel Farke’s squad during a promotion race.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (1 November) that Summerville is one of three Leeds stars wanted by Premier League clubs as the January window approaches.

Ethan Ampadu and Wilfried Gnonto are also attracting interest from top-flight clubs.

Summerville has been crucial for Leeds and manager Farke so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching six goals and four assists across 11 Championship appearances.

The Whites sit third in the second tier but are already some 14 points adrift of runaway leaders Leicester, their next opponents.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The club should just be looking to keep him.

“They’re in a good place in the table to go on and potentially get promoted. Without him, they’re a lot worse off.

“I think some of these players who will want to leave, and will have their heads turned by the interest – I think a club like Leeds will keep them at all costs.

“If they go, it gives the manager an understrength side and then he’s unhappy.

“Just wait six months. If you go up, Summerville stays. If you stay in the Championship, you let him go for big money.

“It doesn’t make sense to let your star player go when you need his goals desperately to get back to the Premier League.”
