'Tell us the truth', 'He won't play for Liverpool again' - Fans react to Thiago Alcantara news

Liverpool fans are divided after assistant manager Pep Ljinders’ injury update on Thiago Alcantara.

The Spaniard has been sidelined for seven months after a hip injury in April, but will still be unavailable for the Reds’ League Cup clash against Bournemouth on Wednesday (1 November).

The 33-year-old moved to Anfield from Bayern Munich in 2020, but frequent injuries have limited him to just 97 appearances in all competitions.

Thiago’s presence has been missed but Liverpool’s summer business, namely Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, has taken the pressure off of Jurgen Klopp’s thinning midfield options.

Liverpool fans have been split by Ljinders’ update on the mercurial midfielder.

One fan urged the club to “tell the truth” about Thiago’s injury.

Another was eager to see the midfielder return to the fray.

Many fans believe that the squad have moved on from the injury-prone Thiago, with one claiming he is now “deadweight” while another claimed it was time he moved on.

One fan was more optimistic about his return and claimed the Reds’ new-look midfield would look “scary” with Thiago.

Amid his continued and lengthy injury struggle, one fan was convinced that he may never play for the club again.

One supporter claimed that Liverpool’s title hopes rested in Thaigo’s availability, otherwise, a third-place finish would be the best fans can hope for.
