Revealed: 'Huge' Everton update today

Everton are set to learn the conclusion of their FFP hearing within the next few days and possibly as early as today in a verdict that will have huge ramifications for the club’s future, Football Insider understands.

The Toffees began their hearing with Premier League officials last Tuesday (17 October), and the verdict is set to be delivered on Friday (27 October) or at the start of next week.

The Merseyside club are being investigated for spending breaches after posting losses of £372m in the previous three seasons – far over the league’s £105million limit.

As reported by The Telegraph, the Premier League have suggested a record-breaking 12-point deduction if Everton are found guilty of breaching profit and sustainability rules.

However, Everton’s troubles would not end there if they are found guilty in the hearing’s imminent conclusion.

Leicester City, Leeds United and Burnley have written to Everton informing them that they intend to sue for £300million if the club is found guilty.

The three clubs – all of which were relegated during the time of Everton’s investigation – are seeking compensation for their demotions to the Championship.

A guilty verdict would also likely include a hefty fine for Everton, adding to a potential £300million legal battle.

The conclusion of the FFP hearing may also have an impact on 777 Partners’ prospective takeover of the club.

The US investment group agreed a £500million deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s stake in the club in September.

They are currently being assessed by the Premier League’s Directors’ and Owners’ Test and any additional fines or punishment may delay the process.
