'Really Disgusting', 'Sell up' - Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Dejphon Chansiri tax demand

Sheffield Wednesday fans have raged over owner Dejphon Chansiri’s plea for £2million to pay the club’s taxes.

Chansiri urged fans to help the struggling Owls, claiming that if 20,000 supporters all gave £100 each then the debts would be clear.

The owner denied withholding funds but claimed that cash flow issues are preventing him from making payments.

Chansiri admitted he could not guarantee that high-earning staff, playing and non-playing, would get paid but promised that all supporters who pledged money would receive it back with interest.

Fans have reacted with unanimous anger over the owners’ latest controversy at Hillsborough.

One supporter claimed that Chansiri is once against shifting blame for the financial troubles at Sheffield Wednesday.

Another, referencing a poll asking fans if they’d pledge the £100, claimed those who would are “clueless”.

One supporter urged fans to stick together despite Chansiri “embarrassing himself”.

One fan pointed to Chansiri’s repeatedly poor behaviour towards Sheffield Wednesday fans.

One supporter claimed his statement was proof of “blackmailing” fans and urged Chansiri to “sell up”.

One supporter sarcastically praised the owner, before deeming him an “idiot”.

Another supporter claimed that any overdue wages have been paid and suggested Chansiri can’t face the criticism levelled at him.

One fan claimed that Chansiri’s comments were an insult to the hard-working fans who keep spending money on the club despite high ticket prices.
