Sources: West Ham in Michail Antonio talks amid 'huge offer' reveal

West Ham remain in talks with striker Michail Antonio over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old’s current agreement expires in June 2024 – with the Irons holding the option to extend his stay a further 12 months until the summer of 2025.

Antonio is the subject of interest from Premier League clubs going into January as well as mega-rich teams in the Middle East.

He came close to leaving in the recent summer window, with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ettifaq the most interested in signing him and discussions held over a “huge offer”, sources say.

Antonio started for the tenth straight Premier League game during the 1-0 loss against Everton on Sunday (29 October).

The Jamaica international is now eight games without a goal in the top flight after notching his last strike in a 3-1 win over Brighton in August.

All told he has managed just two goals and one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Danny Ings has rotated in for Antonio for West Ham’s Europa League games following the departure of Gianluca Scamacca in the summer window.

Antonio’s best seasons came between 2019 and 2022 when he scored 10 league goals in three straight campaigns.

The 33-year-old is West Ham’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 63 goals in 238 top-flight games.

David Moyes’ side are next in action against Arsenal in the League Cup on Wednesday (1 November) before facing Brentford in the league on Saturday (4 November).

In other news, West Ham could sign Darwin Nunez ally in real bargain.
