Sources: West Ham could sign Darwin Nunez ally in real bargain - £6m could seal deal

West Ham could seal the signing of Club America defender Sebastian Caceres in January for a bargain fee of between £6-10million, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons are among the sides monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation ahead of a possible swoop in the mid-season window.

It is believed Liga MX outfit Club America will not demand a huge fee with Caceres out of contract in just over 12 months’ time.

West Ham could face stiff competition from Premier League rivals for the defender’s signature.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (23 October) that Premier League quartet Man United, Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on his progress.

Caceres has impressed for Uruguay’s senior side under Marcelo Bielsa and dazzled as they beat Brazil 2-0 in World Cup qualifying last week (18 October).

He has become a regular in the side alongside the likes of Liverpool star Darwin Nunez, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo and Real Madrid ace Federico Valverde.

The 24-year-old has started and played 90 minutes in each of Uruguay’s last four qualifiers.

Caceres has also has racked up 109 appearances for Club America since joining the club from Uruguayan outfit Liverpool in January 2020.

The Monteviedo-born defender stands at 5 ft 11 inches and primarily plays on the right side of a back four.

West Ham are keen to bolster their options with another centre-back signing in the January window.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (16 October) that Moyes’ interest in a new centre-back comes amid Saudi Pro League interest in current first-choice duo Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.
